Express Auto Service & Repair

With the prices of automotive parts and labor continually rising in today's economy, many vehicle owners would like to know of some ways to save money on car maintenance. Most auto shops understand this and want to help their customers to be safe as possible—both in their driving and in taking care of their vehicles, while at the same time helping them save a few dollars.

There are a few car maintenance issues you can take care of yourself with just a few simple items from your trunk or garage, and a little bit of know-how. Make sure you have these items in your trunk:

  • Tire-Pressure Gauge—Flat tires can be safety hazards, so take the time to regularly check air pressure. A tire pressure gauge is especially needed for radial tires.
  • Shop Towels--Keep a roll of shop towels handy—in your garage and in your glove box too. You'll be glad to have those shop towels around for all kinds of spills and wipes.  They are useful for all kinds of spills and wipes, such as cleaning the dipstick when checking the oil, washing off the headlights, or wiping grime off the windshield wipers.
  • All-Purpose Funnel--An all-purpose funnel will come in handy when it's time to add that extra bit of needed oil, add water or coolant to the radiator, or washer fluid to the water reservoir.  Checking and topping-off fluids as necessary will save you expensive vehicle maintenance costs in the future.
  • Jack and Lug Wrench--A jack and lug wrench are absolutely necessary to have in your trunk.  You never know when you might have a flat tire and get stranded somewhere. Even if you are not able to change the tire yourself, you will have the tools for someone to help you out.

You will find these four items will be useful in all sorts of circumstances. But, the most important safety feature you can provide for yourself is professional vehicle maintenance taken care of at the proper intervals. Ask the experts for help. You can't be too safe!

For advice on professional vehicle maintenance, contact our ASE-certified technicians today at Express Auto Service & Repair by calling 507-625-8005, or go on-line at www.expresscareautomn.com for more information about good car maintenance.
