Each day, before leaving your driveway...
Walk around your car to make sure everything looks okay before leaving your driveway. Look for dents or dings in the paint or bodywork, the condition of the tires, including air pressure, tread wear, cuts in the rubber, chips or cracks in the windows, or puddles under the car. Even though these issues may seem pretty minor, any of them could turn into serious problems and be the cause of an accident!
Each week take a little closer look at your vehicle…
- Check tire pressures, tread depth, and general condition of all four tires, plus the spare.
- Check fluid levels, including the oil, coolant/antifreeze, brakes, windshield washer, power steering, and more.
- Make sure all the lights are working, including blinkers and brake lights. Replace burned-out or broken bulbs as soon as possible, and make sure lenses are clean.
- Inspect your windshield wiper blades and replace them if they are more than six months old.
- Inspect the bodywork for any serious damage that may cause a driving hazard, such as dents in the fenders or smashed tail lights.
- Check mirrors and windows for cracks or chips.
- Wash your vehicle, inside and out, plus wax, to help protect the finish and repel water and dirt.
